i recently discovered the joy of these watercolor crayons...only i never get around to using the water part cuz i love how thick and glossy the color already is! and, yes, i always have plenty of furry helpers while i work...the #doodletuesday sketch is for this great participatory site, maybe you want to contribute to!

fun nyc trip!

i just got back from yet another super fun trip to nyc...this time we went to the Printed Matter Book Fair and MoMA PS1 where Nate and Jim had a booth for Bureau for Open Culture...amazing! we rode water taxis, ate cucumber lime pops while walking the high line, had fabulous food at Cafe Gitane, wandered through ABC Carpet, had beer on the rooftop of the Wythe Hotel (which has the coolest "urban toile" custom designed wallpaper) AND saw a bit of the DicE Magazine party going on in Williamsburg. what a fascinating crowd!!! every minute was fun! whew!!!

UPPERCASE!

it's officially available...the GORGEOUS, AMAZING + INSPIRING "Work/Life 3: the UPPERCASE directory of illustration" book. it is so cool. all of the artists were interviewed and then given an assignment. see more here. i think it's a "must have" book. nate and i had a blast creating our illustration.

vacation!

straight from our family beach vacation to winter holiday! this was the first year i never even picked up a pencil or paintbrush while on vacation...we were having way too much fun doing everything else!

our son sam the designer!

our son sam will be a junior at miami university this fall in the graphic design program. for the month of july he is working as an intern at Neoteric Design. They are an unbelievably smart, creative and visionary group specializing in interactive web development and design. AND they are the group that created our They Draw & Cook and They Draw & Travel sites! i was completely a nut when i saw this article they posted!!!! see the full story here. i could not be one bit more proud or happy for sam. and HUGE thanks to my sis and her husband for letting sam stay in their very swanky place with a fab view of the city! lucky sam!!
