i know i know...these are a trashy kind of snack, but I've been sort of addicted to them lately. no artwork posting today...kind of busy getting the assignments out the door and pulling stuff together for tomorrows web blast of new images. oh and it's gonna be 80 degrees in cleveland today!
I love this blog "modernboom"... her photos always make me want to paint, draw or design something. like this photo she posted of ranunculus. take a peek at her blog, better yet visit her shop. she knows "modern"!
my recent posting...if you haven't been to the site lately, you MUST check it out! so many extraordinary artists are posting recipes and nate's latest is hilarious. (and animated!!) ... check it out. theydrawandcook.com
I originally started this for a magazine illo, but the article changed direction and I didn't want all this food to go to waste so I kept moving along with it....
happy birthday to stephanie! it's a big celebration for her today!!! (kitty is wearing one of stephanies outfits...which looks silly on kitty but stunning on stephanie). you can see more of her style at the Grey Colt ... become a fan (here)
two very different patterns...exact same color palette. I'm thinking about printing some of my own designs on fabric at spoonflower.com ... especially this top one.
I'm working on a new recipe for our fun new site (theydrawandcook) ... it involves cardamom ... lots of great new recipes have been posted so check it out ... better yet, submit your own!
Lettercult (here) has all of the "D" postings up. I got carried away. There are some real cool ones...I love the animated ones since I don't know the first thing about programming animation. I'm easily impressed.
I can't believe I forgot to post this from February! a little vignette from the Devout Home in Rocky River, OH. The owner has such a superb sense of style...
check out this cool etsy site..."raging wool" (here). I love the name! and love the concept. I have been asked to play around with a new logo idea! we'll see what I come up with...I'm having fun with it so far...
I used these flower stems in a design for an ironing board cover that has been selling in Target for awhile. It was more of a tumble and done on a white ground with blue flowers...I had always envisioned them more this way...
this beautiful hand printed tea towel was created by a local artist with a GREAT etsy site (here)...the image stayed in my head awhile and when i woke up I sat here and did this quick 5 minute sketch. my version of a thistle (cuz somehow the artichoke made me think "thistle"). kind of how i use other designers work as inspiration.
dang. I really want to sit here and color these doodles in and keep fussing over them ... but ... well, I have other work to finish, it's 79 + sunny and it's becoming very, very uncomfortable to sit at my computer much longer...
I'm dipping into my stash of preciously posted recipes for my interpretation of this weeks Illustration Friday topic-DIP....sorry if you've already seen it here on the blog...I'm feeling lazy.
If you're here viewing and visiting my blog I say thank YOU! For some REALLY cool art and inspiration visit They Draw & Cook and They Draw & Travel (my brother Nate and I are the founders!)
