I cannot resist buying a crate of fresh figs...the shape + proportion of a fig never fails to amuse me. and mmmmm...fresh figs with a cup of cardamom coffee.
kind of REALLY busy in the studio these days so i'm posting work i've done in the past (these were done for American Greetings and should be out selling by now)...
alex savakis has started a very cool new site..."handlettering cite" . very creative name for a very creative idea. artists handletter their favorite quotes and post on the site. check it out and contribute your own piece!!!
today (august 17th) is nate's birthday...and i promised not to do the "lordy lordy thing"...so instead i sent him a special recipe to post on "theydrawandcook"...happy birthday nate!!! you're the BEST brother and studio partner ever!
hA!!! it's all about mustaches over here...i'm posting my lettercult "M" a day early cuz tomorrow is a big day here on the blog so be sure to check back. i made this gift wrap pattern for uncle jon cuz he is known for his iconic handle bar mustache + he has a big birthday this coming weekend. and i thought i'd toss this silly pic of nate + i in the mix just for laughs...
I haven't posted one of my "favorite things" in awhile...but then I bought this! and ... well ... not all feta cheese is created equal. this brand is really good...Mt. Vikos. see more of their products here. I crumbled this over a salad of arugula, kiwi, cherry tomatoes, olive oil + fresh lemon, S + P.
uh-oh. the projects have moved into other spaces...as in the kitchen counter. (that's a big bag of intelligentsia coffee-espresso-thanks to alex!). it's getting out-of-control...just wait til one or all five of the cats lands on this mess, they'll be walking around with PMS chips hanging from their tail...
"HOW" magazine just named "theydrawandcook" as one of their top 10 sites for designers! woo-hoo! check it out here (oh. and 9 other great sites were also named!)
I'm making another book...the tiny size book that you make on your mac and send off for printing. I am kind of addicted to making these small books. this one is for my brother-in-law (big birthday coming up)...he loves the number four. um. I hope he doesn't follow my blog or the surprise won't be a surprise.
If you're here viewing and visiting my blog I say thank YOU! For some REALLY cool art and inspiration visit They Draw & Cook and They Draw & Travel (my brother Nate and I are the founders!)
