cheers to the month of january! this is the last posting for "drinks + desserts" month...check back tomorrow for my february theme...
illustration friday word is "focused" as in...salli was having a hard time staying focused on her work because she was always thinking about fun things to post on her blog.
as I was googling desserts of the 1950's, this shows up ...SYLLABUB... I had never heard of this dessert before. am I the only one??? it's basically a combination of fresh fruit with a whipped cream topping mixed with some sort of liquor. not my kind of dessert, but I'll take the chocolate cookie! google "syllabub" and you'll find zillions of recipes.
I haven't tried this recipe but it's on my list for the weekend. With all of those heavenly spices how could they possibly be anything but delicious. It's not always easy trying to be a vegan...
right out of the oven...but looking kind of retro.
check out print + pattern blog today (click here) .... it's all about sweets + treats! this cake plate is my favorite...done by solitaire.
nothing new to post today for the remaining days of "drinks + desserts" month...but here is a bad scan of a few handmades I did for Gartner Greetings.
a design I did for Design Design...I think it's on a nephew caption. maybe I'll have something new for tomorrow.
I did this design for American Greetings SO long ago but it has always been one of my favorites...
what can I say...I'm swamped with work this weekend but didn't want to break the chain of posting a drink or dessert everyday for the entire month of this dreary january ... so I am sharing more of nate's work.
this photo is from the site "Rockmade"...click here... to see more. it's just fun to look at all the candy...
both of these super sweet designs are nates...the little pig is my favorite!
another page from my holiday book...tomorrow's posting will be something brand new...
I wouldn't exactly call these a dessert but I liked how this illo looked with the previous post...
In case you haven't noticed, I often post things on my blog for my own silly amusement...such as this. I wanted to post my personal favorite treat, which is a dark chocolate covered orange peel...but...have you ever tried drawing one? it's just not pretty as an illustration. so I came up with this...I believe I was eating them for breakfast on my most recent birthday...
courtesy of katie...some delightful drinks + desserts discovered while vacationing in italy...now I want to go to italy!
these are the B E S T cookies...the sea salt gives them that extra yumminess...I think this recipe was originally in the new york times. if you click on it, I'm hoping it will be large enough to print and read.
woo-hoo! I am taking the rest of the day off since my husband is returning this morning from his 12 day motorcycle ride along the coast of chile and through the atacama desert...and in case you're wondering, heck NO I don't ride motorcycles!!!
Limoncello is a an Italian lemon liqueur...very luscious. maybe poured over a snowcone of crushed ice!
some cake designs I did for Great Arrow Graphics...I am too busy today to post anything new...but for sure something new tomorrow.
this seems like such an all-american kind of cookie....not one of my favorites, tho. I'll be posting a recipe soon for sea salt chocolate chip cookies. and that is one of my favorites.
two versions of this---aqua was done to give a friend on her birthday. lavender was created afterwards and sold to Gartner Greetings.
some coffee themed handmades I did for Gartner Greetings awhile ago...clearly one of my favorite shapes to draw is the coffee cup!
is it just me or does a hot toddy sound W A Y better than it tastes? fun to draw on a blustery snow day, tho.
a card I did for Gartner Greetings awhile back...
nate is being cruel. he is now in venice beach sending me pics like this. honestly. he's on the beach and we've got 18 inches of snow outside. of course, one of us is getting lots of work done and being a conscientious studio partner (and a martyr) and the other is getting a glorious tan.
illustration friday topic-renewal...don't think I need to explain any further...
today, january 5th, happens to be the birthday of two of my most favorite people...so I baked them each a special dessert. for you rick, a coconut lemon cake...and for you jim, brownie topped with coffee ice cream and hot fudge sauce. happy birthday!!!!
probably the best dessert I know how to make...it's not my recipe tho (Isabel Tenor). If you click on it I think it will be large enough to read.
nate + I posted 10 new things on our website for january...this is one of 'em.
nate in san fran enjoying some of the best turkish coffee he has ever had! wish I had some...
1-1-2010...everyday for the month of january I am going to post an illo of either drinks or desserts ...this is a fat free way to indulge. and thanks to Dalia for the idea! plus it's a triple SSS word!
