i'm thinking of creating a series based on this color and technique...maybe a reindeer, a cardinal and a frosty winter scene...
nate and i collaborated with another brother/sister team to create these great tote bags. they are selling on the awesome "a-thread" site where a part of every purchase goes to either a charity of your choice or in this case, the world food bank. we couldn't be happier with how they turned out...the construction and print quality are FAB! here is the link to view them along with the MANY other cool things they sell! how fun to buy all of the ingredients needed to make these recipes and gift it to a friend!
i've been carving rubber stamps then scanning them and re-coloring...endless possibilities!

the story behind this little slice is indicative of how i work. i decided it was very very very necessary to clean my studio before starting any more projects. 10 minutes into shuffling through piles i discover a tiny little sketch i had done one morning while looking at holiday magazines (probably weeks ago). well what the heck, i just had to take a quick little break and get the design started so i could FINALLY throw the piece of paper away. mind you, i have stacks a mile high of sketches...everywhere! in the middle of creating this slice i started feeling guilty that i hadn't scrubbed bathrooms in awhile. so after 2 gross hours of cleaning the boys bathroom i come back to my cozy + cluttered space and relax back into finishing this design. so essentially it took me 5 hours to throw away ONE piece of paper!!!!!!! ha!
over the weekend i painted this little teardrop ornament for a school fundraiser...it reminded me how difficult it is painting such tiny things!!

recently i've been asked to create so many hand lettered designs that i decided to plop some of the letters into a font program...this new font "LINEDANCE" is available here for only 5$! p.s. for 5$ don't expect great kerning ; )

tweaking some old files i recently discovered...i have folders titled "ideas", "in-the-works", and "just-for-fun"...
I definitely cook more once the fall season starts...and this is one of my very favorites, it's also tasty on steel cut oats...

we had a raffle on TDAC and the winner got to have their favorite recipe illustrated by nate or myself...the winner was Urania Mylonas and she sent us in her Mom's recipe for Stuffed Tomatoes! Urania helped us plan our trip to Greece so i was ultra inspired to create this!
...a few quickies that i'm gonna try and work into my map of paros! it's a very "colored pencil" kind of island ; )
what a fantabulous trip i had with my brother nate + his boyfriend jim!!!!!! there is so much to share but for now here is a pic of the beach stones i gathered from the almost 20 beaches we discovered!!

i just got back from a fabulous vacation with 21 family members and it was 100% awesome! when taking a break from the huge waves and never ending beach i sat on the porch with my colored pencils ; ) ... what a grand week!
as soon as i saw this recipe in the paper i whipped up this illo to go with it...the original didn't use lime juice but i couldn't resist cuz i love the flavor limes in the summer and i love drawing them ; )
i'm loving this super hot + steamy summer so far!
finally finished my recipe for grilled veggies...easy + yummy! happy grillin'!
even tho it's been a super hot summer so far (which makes me very happy), i've been playing around with holiday images....my blog posting is slowing down cuz my new swimming routine is taking over!
