illustration friday word is "focused" as in...salli was having a hard time staying focused on her work because she was always thinking about fun things to post on her blog.
as I was googling desserts of the 1950's, this shows up ...SYLLABUB... I had never heard of this dessert before. am I the only one??? it's basically a combination of fresh fruit with a whipped cream topping mixed with some sort of liquor. not my kind of dessert, but I'll take the chocolate cookie! google "syllabub" and you'll find zillions of recipes.
I haven't tried this recipe but it's on my list for the weekend. With all of those heavenly spices how could they possibly be anything but delicious. It's not always easy trying to be a vegan...
what can I say...I'm swamped with work this weekend but didn't want to break the chain of posting a drink or dessert everyday for the entire month of this dreary january ... so I am sharing more of nate's work.
In case you haven't noticed, I often post things on my blog for my own silly amusement...such as this. I wanted to post my personal favorite treat, which is a dark chocolate covered orange peel...but...have you ever tried drawing one? it's just not pretty as an illustration. so I came up with this...I believe I was eating them for breakfast on my most recent birthday...
these are the B E S T cookies...the sea salt gives them that extra yumminess...I think this recipe was originally in the new york times. if you click on it, I'm hoping it will be large enough to print and read.
woo-hoo! I am taking the rest of the day off since my husband is returning this morning from his 12 day motorcycle ride along the coast of chile and through the atacama desert...and in case you're wondering, heck NO I don't ride motorcycles!!!
this seems like such an all-american kind of cookie....not one of my favorites, tho. I'll be posting a recipe soon for sea salt chocolate chip cookies. and that is one of my favorites.
some handmades I did for Paper Magic Group back in 06...ok, sushi isn't a drink or a dessert and it's certainly not my favorite thing to eat...but...I do like my little handmade version!
nate is being cruel. he is now in venice beach sending me pics like this. honestly. he's on the beach and we've got 18 inches of snow outside. of course, one of us is getting lots of work done and being a conscientious studio partner (and a martyr) and the other is getting a glorious tan.
today, january 5th, happens to be the birthday of two of my most favorite people...so I baked them each a special dessert. for you rick, a coconut lemon cake...and for you jim, brownie topped with coffee ice cream and hot fudge sauce. happy birthday!!!!
1-1-2010...everyday for the month of january I am going to post an illo of either drinks or desserts ...this is a fat free way to indulge. and thanks to Dalia for the idea! plus it's a triple SSS word!
